I teach from my home in Chiswick, W4 as well as London generally. Pupils come from the surrounding areas of Barnes, Chiswick, Mortlake, Fulham, South Kensington, Notting Hill, Richmond, and so on, as well as Greater London and the south east. I can travel to students if necessary, though it does affect lesson cost. I also teache at the prestigious Harrodian School in Barnes.
'Philosophy'
It's difficult to pop down in a few words, something as complex as an approach to a skill, and birth right, so wonderfully holistic as singing! But some of the factors that you can expect are:
- Finding a way to balance a need for self acceptance of your own voice - a celebration of your own voice - with the kind of critical awareness that builds confidence and creates excellence
- Using a good working knowledge of the instrument as a starting point for artistry, not as either a goal in itself, or a mystery to be ignored.
- Using tricks and techniques gleaned from both educational psychology and sport psychology in order to get the best out of yourself. So often, it is our self and our own approaches which limits us most.
- Devoting time to working on your 'mental singer'
- Developing a good appreciation and understanding of other singers, other performers, and their inherent magic
- Using props and multimedia to help enable, encourage and train
- Bespoke materials for structuring your approach, understanding your instrument, and developing your sight singing.
If you would like to get in touch with a question, or to arrange a consultation lesson, please feel free.
My standard home rate is £45per hour, and my visiting pupil rate is £60 per hour.
