I'm a singing teacher, vocal pedagogue, choral conductor and composer based in West London, I've been fascinated since childhood by language, poetry and the expressive qualities of the human voice, and both my teaching approach and compositions look for the joy of creative exploration and self expression through words and sounds. I teach an approach of focusing on bringing thought, understanding and sound, into one instinctive and complete moment, that is the song, performance and sensation of expression.
I'm a self confessed life long learner, and have just completed a postgraduate in voice science and applied vocal teaching. I include recent advances in sport psychology and performance training in my teaching model, as well as a great deal of use of the invaluable information from the advances in voice science and the study of the mechanics of the voice.
As well as teaching myself, I've lectured, presented, and worked with other teachers as a consultant - working on their teaching approach, and understanding of using multimedia to get the most out of their pupils potential progress. Former students have gone onto paths as varied as the west end, music colleges, choral scholarships and record labels in Tennessee!
As a student I studied at, amongst others, the Royal College of Music and Trinity College of Music, and also have an LRSM, ATCL and two DipABRSM's. I've studied with top specialists in the fields of Opera, Jazz and Music Theatre, so that I can carry my understanding and my teaching onto a higher level.
I work regularly with Voices, The City of Derby Girls Choir, as their principle conductor, and have toured extensively with them. As a vocal repetiteur and workshop leader, I've worked across the country, for a variety of institutions and bodies, including the Association of British Choral Directors.
